Cleaning Faux Leather Seat Covers
Faux leather is the easiest material to maintain. A damp cloth is sufficient in most cases:
- Regularly: Wipe down with a damp microfibre cloth. For heavier soiling, use a small amount of mild soapy water.
- Stains: Blot immediately (do not rub!). Treat stubborn stains with a specialist faux leather cleaner.
- Avoid: No aggressive cleaning agents, no acetone, no abrasives. These will damage the surface.
- Tip: After cleaning, wipe dry with a dry cloth to prevent moisture from seeping into the seams.
Cleaning Fabric Seat Covers
Fabric covers made from polyester or cotton require a little more attention:
- Regularly: Vacuum using the upholstery attachment of your vacuum cleaner. This removes loose dirt and dust.
- Stains: Blot with a damp cloth. For stubborn stains: spray on upholstery cleaner, leave to work in, then blot.
- Important: Do NOT wash fabric covers in the washing machine! The fit may be affected.
- Odours: For unpleasant odours, baking soda helps: sprinkle on a thin layer, leave overnight, then vacuum off.
